Motor Neuron Disease (MND) causes people to progressively lose the ability to move and speak. Despite numerous technological advances that have helped people living with MND communicate (voice banking, eye tracking), these people are still left frustrated with the robotic nature of communication that doesn’t allow them to express their feelings and personality. And many simply stop trying.

We recognized that AI image generation would be a game changer for people with MND, but commercially available tools like Midjourney are inaccessible to the MND community and the act of writing image prompts is labor intensive for those who type with their eyes.

Mind’s Eye is a mobile app that overcomes AI accessibility barriers, providing users a means of self expression not previously possible. Now even those with nearly no mobility can create and share images—just by moving their eyes. The app, powered by the Stable Diffusion 1.5 model, is built from the ground up for use on eye-tracking devices. Users can build prompts, render images, and share them with their loved ones.
